As promised under stay tuned;
On a cold fall night in October of 2003- as the first signs of a long and cold winter were about to come, a young part time barman was winding his night down after a long day of fighting crime and then slinging drinks. Around this time of thinking about a warm bed and some much needed sleep in walks in two Californians who challenge this tired barman. "Dude I want something fruity and original" says the blond shabby dressed tanned man- I look up and say no worries and precede in my laziness to mix a cosmopolitan. After one sip the American's response was to the point. "Dude I said original!"
Feeling somewhat irked at this point, I decided to rise to the occassion- "Alright you prick" I muttered to myself as I began to look around my well, and towards the vast selection of worldly treats in liquid form. I reached for a bottle of Stoli Raspberry Vodka and as I filled my shaker with ice I poured this nectar of the gods into it and added a splash of Triple sec to add some flavour- I took out a Martini glass and squeezed a lemon wedge into the center and placed it up on the bar. I went back to my shaker and added cranberry juice and then pineapple juice. I capped the shaker and began to do the bartenders jig as I shook the container.
Once I was done with this pagan ritual I strained my new mix over the squeezed lemon into the glass and proudly displayed it to my new found guinea pig.
It was as if the music stopped and people stared as this "surfer dude" took his time tasting it, as I waited for his next smartass comment. And then he looked up and smiled and said " now that is original! What do you call this?
I had a develish grin as I replied "The Russian Retreat". I went on to explain the name, as I wanted to incorporate the Stoli Vodka, and the exotic fruits for which I began to think about a vacation or in other words a "retreat".
And so; as the air got cooler that fall night The Next Great Cocktail was born.

"Make it Happen"
I was looking at my LiveStrong bracelet today and I truly believe in the message and the work that Lance Armstrong is doing for cancer research. I have my own phrase for anyone who is sick, struggling in life etc..
MAKE IT HAPPEN
No matter who you are, where you are or what you do, if you have a goal, dream or project- Make it Happen.

Common Courtesy
Whatever happened to smiling at someone and saying hello when walking down the street? Why do people flip you the bird when thet cut you off? Whatever happened to common courtesy and above all service? I was in a grocery store the other day and I was shoved by a clerk who was collecting the baskets, I asked if he ever heard of the words excuse me? He stared at me like I was out of my mind and stated that he had a job to do and I should move out of his way!! Craziness!!
Anyway I guess I come from a different school of thought or generation and I'm not that old!!
Common courtesy is just that;
